MTFU coaching helps runners, cyclists, and triathletes become fitter, faster, and better than they ever thought possible. Through 1-1 coaching, a personalized training schedule, data-driven analyses, and continuous feedback on your workouts in TrainingPeaks. But above all, by positively and motivatively stimulating and supporting you in what is important to you.

Before I started MTFU coaching, Niels thoroughly analyzed my previous training sessions, and based on this analysis, he had a clear vision of where I could make progress. "We are going to make your engine more efficient," Niels said. I quickly noticed that the training had the desired effect. Whenever I couldn't complete a workout or didn't do it entirely, Niels adjusted the schedule for the week. Niels provided tips and/or reassurances if the training didn't go as I wanted. If I didn't understand something or was uncertain about anything, I could always call or message Niels. I am convinced that through MTFU coaching, I received the right workouts and recovery days, which allowed me to complete my first full triathlon and smash my personal record in the marathon.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Niels as I prepared for Berlin marathon. I improved my PB by 3 minutes, despite some life circumstances making the lead up less than ideal. He pushed me further than any coach in the past, and beyond what I thought was possible, giving me renewed self-confidence. He adapted training to my life and also what I enjoyed, which I really appreciated. With the ambition for a fast marathon, I approached Niels for coaching. After a deep dive into my running data, Niels set up a plan to optimally utilize my physical capabilities and focus on my areas for improvement. What distinguishes Niels' approach is that he also takes into account other, even more important factors such as family life, (volunteer) work, and training opportunities. A unique component of the plan and coaching includes the training sessions with Niels and the team MTFU workouts. Niels' guidance has led not only to a lot of fun but also to a substantial personal record of 2:29:47! Here’s to more!

Niels has transformed running for me from a 'have to' into a 'want to'. With new goals and insights, I have found new motivation to bring out the best in myself. My 15-months long journey with Niels led to my dream to finish at the IM world championships in Kona, Hawaii. We started out with the initial goal to be in my best possible fitness shape at the IM in Thun, Switzerland. I ended up not only winning my age group in Thun, but also happily finishing Hawaii IM only 3 months later. Throughout the entire journey, Niels provided the structure to all my training, ongoing feedback, any needed advice and was a main source of great motivation and inspiration. Niels balanced the high demands of cycling, swimming and running very well and customized to my abilities and needs with great flexibility (scheduling, travel, injury). I fully trusted Niels’ coaching and “simply” focused on myself, on delivering the work and very much enjoyed progressing along the way. Niels explained in detail the goals of each training and provided on top regular feedback, also on less obvious training related items like food or clothing. The schedule was really tailormade to my availability and my “skills”. Along the way we adapted it when necessary. Like many people I have a tendency to be very critical towards myself. Niels counterweighted this based on the facts. He made me believe that I could do it, while keeping me with both feet on the ground as well. Being an element of the MTFU group and hearing victorious stories from others was the last part of motivation I needed.

Your coach

Niels Esmeijer

I am an avid triathlete and runner with over 15 years of competition and training experience. Some of my athletic highlights include competing in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, achieving an Ironman personal record of 8 hours and 59 minutes, winning the Dutch Duathlon Title in the Masters category (aka “old guys”), and setting a marathon personal record of 2 hours and 25 minutes. I have also faced challenging periods with setbacks and severe injuries, understanding that progress is not always a straight upward line.

I have always balanced my sports pursuits with my family (a fantastic wife and two even more fantastic daughters) and a full-time job. I know the trade-offs one must make among competing priorities and the importance of bringing structure into one’s life.

My goal is to help you improve and find joy in your sport. I’ve gained my knowledge and experience through collaboration with highly skilled coaches, experimenting with various approaches (and making plenty of mistakes), and pursuing education in coaching, running, and sports psychology.

I share this with my athletes through positive, motivating, data-driven, and personalized coaching. I invest a lot of energy in my coaching and look forward to helping you achieve your athletic dreams.
